South Island - 9 night itinerary

This South Island discovery itinerary features two nights in Blenheim, one night in Kaikoura, a night in Christchurch, two in the Aoraki Mount Cook Region/Mackenzie Country and ending with three nights in New Zealand’s most well known alpine resort town – Queenstown. This itinerary offers a great self-drive route, showcasing a mix of vineyard, coastal, lake and mountain scenery.
Accommodation includes two nights at the Marlborough Lodge, a grand country estate nestled within 16 acres of secluded parklands, providing a wonderful retreat for you to relax and enjoy inspired New Zealand cuisine. The design of the décor is elegant with 10 contemporary luxury suites set in a unique Victorian lodge building, amidst world-famous Marlborough vineyards.
The next stop is Kaikoura at Hapuku Lodge, a country coastal retreat property, boasting a superb location nestled between the majestic Kaikoura Mountain ranges and the breathtaking Pacific Ocean. It is set on a 1,500 acre property with a deer breeding farm, and is near to the idyllic seaside town of Kaikoura, acclaimed for its eco-marine tourism. The lodge is built in a canopy of native grove, giving opportunity to stay in a unique treehouse style accommodation.
We have included a night at The George Hotel in Christchurch so to break the driving journey between Kaikoura and the Aoraki region. The George Hotel is a luxury boutique property offering sophisticated and elegant luxury with friendly attentive service. It is ideally located in the heart of Christchurch overlooking the picturesque Hagley Park and the River Avon.
Whilst in the Aoraki Mount Cook region we have featured a two night stay at Mt Cook Lakeside retreat at Lake Pukaki. This property is set in a nature forest environment and offers luxurious hosted boutique style accommodation.
The final property is Azur Lodge in Queenstown, which has an elevated hillside position affording guests breathtaking and uninterrupted views across the Lake Wakatipu and towards the Remarkables and Cecil Peak. The boutique property has nine individual villas, set amongst beautiful native bush surrounds, each with a lovely welcoming lounge area with fireplace and private deck to enjoy the views.
With regards to excursions and activities, the itinerary includes a mix of private and shared experiences to show case each of the destinations included.
